HOW ONE MAN REVOLUTIONISED THE WAY TRADIES CARRY THEIR TOOLS

The business started as a one man operation back in 1971 by the South African born Kenneth Van Der Water (1946 – 2012). Ken was a leatherworker, industrial designer, machinist and family man who designed and crafted footwear, handbags, belts and leather accessories for men and women.

The business diversified in the 1990s when cheap imports began to flood Australia. It became fragile and almost ended as a result but the fighting spirit kicked in and, after seeing a need, Ken set out to revolutionise the way tradies carry their tools.

After 2 decades of making quality leather apparel Ken designed a tradesmen’s belt and concept like no other.

Ken left an impression on people – he was so proud of making a good product and always aimed to make things better not cheaper. He was a driven leather worker, the type that never cared that his line of work didn’t become a recognised trade.

Today Buckaroo prides itself on being built on Ken’s work ethic that encompassed a no shortcuts attitude in the delivery of the best quality products.
